Open Source Licenses
Quizzer is built using various open source software and libraries. This page acknowledges the open source projects and their respective licenses that make Quizzer possible.
1. Our Commitment to Open Source
Quizzer values the open source community and is grateful for the many excellent open source projects that power our platform. We are committed to respecting open source licenses and contributing back to the community where possible.
This page lists the major open source dependencies used in Quizzer along with their licenses. For a complete list of all dependencies and their licenses, please refer to your package manager's license report (e.g., pnpm licenses).
2. Our Open Source Philosophy
At Quizzer, we believe that education and technology should be accessible to everyone. This principle extends to how we approach open source software. We're built on the foundation of countless open source projects that enable us to create a powerful, scalable, and innovative learning platform.
Open source software represents the collaborative spirit of the global developer community. It embodies the values we hold dear: sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and removing barriers to access. Just as we're committed to making education free and accessible, we recognize and respect the open source community's commitment to making powerful tools available to all.
Why Open Source Matters to Us
The open source movement aligns perfectly with our mission. Open source software:
- Democratizes access to powerful tools and technologies
- Enables rapid innovation through collaborative development
- Reduces costs, making quality software accessible to startups and educational institutions
- Fosters transparency and trust in the software we build
- Creates a global community of developers working toward common goals
By leveraging open source technologies, we can focus our resources on building unique educational features rather than reinventing foundational tools. This allows us to deliver more value to students and educators while contributing to the broader ecosystem.
How We Use Open Source
Quizzer utilizes a wide range of open source libraries, frameworks, and tools across our entire technology stack. These include:
- Web frameworks and libraries for building our user interface
- Database tools and ORMs for managing educational data
- Authentication and security libraries to protect user information
- UI component libraries for creating accessible, beautiful interfaces
- Real-time communication libraries for our multiplayer quiz rooms
- Validation and type-checking tools to ensure code quality
- Animation libraries for creating engaging user experiences
Each of these tools is carefully selected based on its quality, community support, and alignment with our technical and educational goals. We ensure that all open source software we use is properly licensed and that we comply with all license requirements.
Our Commitment
We are committed to:
- Properly attributing all open source software we use
- Complying with all license terms and requirements
- Contributing back to open source projects when possible
- Supporting the open source community through bug reports, feature requests, and code contributions
- Maintaining transparency about our dependencies and their licenses
We recognize that Quizzer wouldn't exist without the incredible work of the open source community, and we're grateful for every line of code, every documentation page, and every contribution that makes our platform possible.
3. Common License Types We Use
MIT License
The MIT License is a permissive free software license. It allows reuse within proprietary software provided all copies of the licensed software include a copy of the MIT License terms and the copyright notice.
Apache License 2.0
The Apache License 2.0 is a permissive free software license that allows users to use, modify, and distribute the software freely, with the requirement that the original copyright notice and license terms are preserved.
ISC License
The ISC License is functionally equivalent to the MIT License, with very similar terms. It is a permissive license allowing free use, modification, and distribution.
4. Quizzer's License
Quizzer's proprietary code, design, and content are protected by copyright and are the exclusive property of Quizzer. While we use open source software, Quizzer itself is not open source. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of Quizzer's proprietary code without explicit written permission.
However, we respect open source principles and are committed to:
- Properly attributing all open source software we use
- Complying with all open source license requirements
- Contributing back to open source projects when possible
- Maintaining transparency about our dependencies
5. Reporting License Issues
If you believe we have not properly attributed an open source project or have violated a license, please contact us immediately:

We take license compliance seriously and will address any concerns promptly.
6. Acknowledgments
Quizzer would not be possible without the incredible work of the open source community. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the developers, maintainers, and contributors of the projects listed above and the countless other open source libraries that power our platform.
The open source community's dedication to creating high-quality, freely available software enables innovation and helps make education more accessible to everyone.
7. Updates
